Jim"All Life Is Yoga" in Eagle River, AK truly lives up to its name! Not only are the classes wonderfully transforming physically, but the instructors and other yogis bring such power and energy to each class I found myself transformed mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I started to do yoga due to a parachute landing that went a muck and I broke my back (L2) in the spring of 2011. During recovery workouts, I found my strength returning but little to no flexibility. I was encouraged to "try yoga". My first thought was "Yoga? I'm not doing yoga. I'm a Soldier. We don't do yoga". But after a second offer from my daughter to join her in a yoga class was offered, I gave in and went. I gotta admit, it was a bit different at first, but I also gotta admit, I felt better, a lot better. 4 years later, thru the community I found at All Life Is Yoga, my life is healthier and filled with contentment and peace."

I was suffering from
stress related pain, and one of the suggested activities that would possibly
help me was yoga. I found Mary in Eagle
River last spring, and joined a restorative class to learn how to relax. (Restorative or Gentle are the yoga classes
for the physically challenged)
Mary has
changed my life.Always being somewhat of a klutz all my life, after a few sessions, found I could keep up with the rest of the class, but I couldn’t retain it to practice the moves at home. I arranged for some private lessons to help with the movements. Mary designed a private practice for me that worked around my pain, strengthened my elderly muscles, and regained flexibility Mary has been my life coach for a year now. I can attend a regular yoga class, knowing when to rest, and when to push it harder. She is always so encouraging and makes my day sunny. I can get down and play on the floor with my grand kids with my new flexibility, have more energy in my day, and have gained peace and serenity. My husband has started practicing yoga with me at home and swears it has improved his golf swing--something about being able to pivot and rotate. We both enjoy attending the couples class offered monthly. Everyone performs at their own level. The gift is the interaction with each other. It is truly helping each other succeed, not doing an activity side-by-side, and generates laughter and a closeness as a couple. All life truly is yoga. |

I ran track in college and have tried most every work out program over the years. However, I had never tried yoga. I thought it was just what the trendy Hollywood types did, and frankly, I am not always willing to do new things. A friend convinced me to try a class about four years ago and I was hooked! Mary's classes are fun and challenging. Her energy keeps me so motivated! I am not the most graceful person, but Mary has shown me how to work with my body to get the most out of my practice.
Yoga has made me stronger than anything else I have tried-- even after two kids my core is stronger than when I was in my 20s! Yoga has taught me to better manage stress, be more accepting and to enjoy life more. Best of all, I truly feel like I can do it into my 80s and beyond because it is not hard on my body like so many other exercises. Give it a try-- you will be so glad you did! ThereseI would like to thank you for a wonderful introduction to my new world of yoga. As a teacher I find you full of knowledge, enthusiasm and fun. Your depth and scope of information about yoga and our bodies is amazing! As a human being I find you compassionate, wise, gentle, kind, good humored and fun.
I know I have improved as a student. I am stronger, more flexible and my balance has improved. I know I am a work in progress and I will continue to improve as long as I stay mindful and continue my yoga practice. Another aspect of yoga I was not aware of is the spiritual side - the mindfulness. I would often leave class feeling calm, settled, and oh so peaceful, thank you. Your studio is a lovely place and your monthly calendar (great) offers me many choices of which activity I can get involved in. THANK YOU!! |
